Medicine Women Inc. is a pending health and beauty company.
Introduction
As graphic designer, I designed the logo for Medicine Women Inc. Blending the company values and the stylistic preferences of the client, I created logo mockups on Adobe Illustrator.
My Role
In order to design the logo, I first researched other health and beauty companies to find common themes in style, color, font.
The process of designing consisted of many different mockups of shape, color and text placement. Communicating with the client, I would receive feedback based on what they liked and what they didn’t and continued until I made a mockup of a logo they wanted to use.
Research & Inspiration
Before starting to design, I researched logos of other health and beauty companies to see what design elements they used. Most had a very light and airy look to them, with light or pastel colors such as green, pink, yellow, or purple.
One of the core values of the company is to empower women through their products, so I attempted to channel this with the color scheme. The client also said they wanted it to be eye catching, colorful, happy, and 1980s inspired (vibrant), while also remaining modern.

Design Process
Using these inspirations, I started designing on Adobe Illustrator. Some logo mockups are pictured below.
I played around with the sizing of the design vs. the font size, as well as the colors, the height, and width of the design. The top left was my first design choice, using inspiration from health companies having blue and purple colors, as well as the cup pictured to the left having the same color scheme and smooth design. The client wanted it to be brighter, so I transitioned to green and blue, and pink and orange.
Conclusion
Results ★
After many mockups, the client decided on a vibrant pink and orange color combination, with this font. These are the final two designs, and I am still working on getting the text in the right spot. When it is layered over the design, the clarity of the company name becomes reduced, but spacing is a bit of an issue when the name is below the design, so I am working on fixing that to reach the final product.
Timeline ★
This project was started in late August 2022 and the initial mockups spanned over about a month. The company is currently in the process of starting so I have been waiting to make final adjustments to the logo until further notice, when the client has provided more information.
Reflections ★
Given that this is an ongoing project, the final result has not been completed, however I have enjoyed using this as a way to further my knowledge and experience on Adobe Illustrator. I hope to see if I can incorporate other Adobe Suite applications; at first I used Photoshop, but Illustrator worked better for design. Photoshop may be useful for the text formatting issue. I would also like to explore further tools on Illustrator to further enhance the logo.
